ABOUT EXAMINATIONS
Chinese Ethnic Instruments: Standard Grade Examination
China Nationalities Orchestra Society (CNOS) administers the Chinese Ethnic Instruments Standard Grade Examination. CNOS is a national level organization approved by the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China, and with over eight thousand members. All members are Chinese music professionals worldwide.
The Standard Level Examination offered by CNOS is the most popular Chinese musical instrument examination in China and overseas.
There are 9 levels of examination (Grade 1 to Grade 9) and one Performing Level (Grade 10). The music pieces that candidates play in the examination have to be drawn from the China Nationalities Orchestra Society’s examination syllabus.
Examinations are directly supervised by a Chinese Nationalities Orchestra Society’s Certified Examiner. Upon passing examination, certificates will be issued to candidates.
Fee Schedule
Exam fees are payable by cheque or money order to the CALGARY CHINESE MUSIC DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION.
